BE READY: Advancing knowledge of host and pathogen dynamics to better combat emerging diseases

The Research Council of Norway is announcing 850 000 euro to Norwegian researchers who want to participate in a European research collaboration within pandemic preparedness

The aim of this call is to increase scientific understanding and evidence-based knowledge on emerging and re-emerging pathogens with pandemic potential as well as on the host responses triggered by infection in order to improve our capacity to anticipate, prevent and respond to infectious health threats through a multinational, collaborative and interdisciplinary approach that bridges research and development. 

  • Project duration: maximum 36 months (3 years)
  • Maximum funding for the Norwegian partner is 300 000 €. 
  • Maximum funding if the Norwegian participant has a coordinator role is 400 000 €.

Within one consortium, no more than one partner can apply for RCN funding.

All applicants and partners must comply with the State Aid rules. Companies must not be in difficulty according to the European Union guidelines at the time of submission.

SME or other industrial partner can be funded with up to 50% of their eligible project costs. All projects are to be carried out as effective collaboration between the partners. Undertakings (companies) that participate in the consortium must also not receive indirect state aid in the form of advantageous conditions for cooperation with the research institutions taking part in the consortium. Depending on the volume of submitted and eligible projects, up to 25 % additional funding may be allocated to the call to fund additional projects on the ranking list. 
For funded projects, the contractual budget will be in Norwegian kroner (NOK) using the exchange rate from the pre-proposal deadline. The official exchange rate can be found on the websites of the European Central Bank. 

The application to the BE READY consortium call shall be submitted by the research consortium’s international coordinator using BE READY’s application system. Please also read the call text on BE READY’s website.
